Is there an extra fee for gas?

Because we bring the salon directly to your door across Cape Breton, Antigonish, and New Glasgow, a small travel fee may apply depending on your exact location. We will always confirm this with you when booking!

How do I book an appointment?

To book, please fill out the booking request form on our website. Because we schedule our routes by area, we will note your request and contact you with the next available date we will be in your neighbourhood.

What are your hours & mobile schedule?

Karen is available for grooming appointments from Tuesday to Friday.

Please note that as a mobile service, our schedule is optimized by location. We dedicate each day to a specific service area to ensure we are punctual and efficient. The exact appointment times available to you will depend on the day Karen is in your neighbourhood.

What should I expect on appointment day?

As a mobile service, our schedule can be affected by traffic and the unpredictable nature of working with live animals. For this reason, we provide an arrival window (e.g., “between 10 AM and 11 AM”). Karen will always send you a text or call when she is on her way to your home with a more precise ETA.

What do you need from me when you arrive?

To ensure a smooth, stress-free experience for both you and your cat, Karen only needs a few simple things when she arrives:

Your Cat Secured in a Small Room: Cats have a sixth sense for when it’s grooming time! Please gently place your cat in a small, enclosed room (like a bathroom) before she arrives. This prevents them from hiding under a bed when they hear the doorbell and keeps their stress levels low.

A Small, Well-Lit Space: I bring my own portable grooming table and all the necessary supplies. I simply need a small, relatively quiet area with good lighting and access to a standard electrical outlet for my clippers.

A Calm Environment: To keep your cat completely relaxed, it is incredibly helpful to minimize loud noises and keep other household pets in a separate room while she completes the groom.

That’s it! Karen handles everything else—from the gentle grooming to the clean-up—leaving you with a beautifully groomed, happy cat and zero mess in your home.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows us to potentially fill the spot, which is critical for a route-based business. Cancellations within this 24-hour window, or if we arrive and no one is home, will be invoiced for 50% of the scheduled service fee.

What payment method do you accept?

We accept E-transfer or cash at the time of service.

How often should my cat be groomed?

This depends on your cat’s breed, coat length, and lifestyle. After the first appointment, Karen will provide a personalized recommendation for a grooming schedule. We can then set up a recurring appointment based on the route schedule for your area.

My cat is very anxious or has a history of aggression. Can you help?

Yes. It is crucial that you inform us of any history of aggression or extreme anxiety when booking.

Karen is trained to work with anxious cats with patience and skill. Many skittish cats do beautifully with our in-home grooms because they get to stay in their familiar environment. By using a calm, unhurried approach, we can bypass a lot of standard grooming anxiety. Karen always takes her time and closely reads your cat’s body language to keep them as comfortable as possible.

However, the safety and well-being of your cat (and the groomer!) is always our top priority:

Humanity Over Vanity: If a cat becomes so severely stressed or aggressive that the grooming process becomes dangerous for them or for Karen, the session will be safely stopped.

Veterinary Support: While we do not administer medications ourselves, in some cases—for the cat’s own safety and comfort—we may recommend you speak with your veterinarian about a mild, vet-prescribed sedative like Gabapentin for future appointments.

Being completely transparent about your cat’s history, their likes, and their triggers helps us make the best, gentlest plan for your furry friend!

Do you groom senior cats or cats with chronic health conditions?

Yes, we do, with the utmost care and gentleness.

Karen has extensive experience working with senior cats who may have arthritis, limited mobility, or other chronic health conditions. In fact, our mobile, in-home service is often the best choice for older cats because it completely eliminates the physical toll and stress of traveling to a busy salon.

Tailored, Gentle Care: When booking, it is essential to disclose any known health issues. This allows Karen to adjust her handling techniques and tailor the grooming process to your cat’s specific needs, ensuring the session is as gentle and low-stress as possible.

Comfort Over Cosmetics: Our golden rule for senior and special-needs cats is always humanity over vanity. We prioritize making your cat feel clean, pain-free, and comfortable over achieving a perfectly styled, cosmetic haircut.

If your cat requires breaks or cannot stand for long periods, Karen will gladly accommodate them to ensure a safe, positive, and comfortable experience.

My cat’s coat is matted. Will you brush the mats out?

For the safety and comfort of your cat, we do not brush or comb out tight, severe mats.

A cat’s skin is incredibly thin and sensitive—much thinner than a dog’s. Attempting to detangle or brush out solid mats is extremely painful for the cat and can easily tear their delicate skin. Because we strictly follow a “humanity over vanity” approach, we will not put your cat through that stress and pain.

Instead, if your cat has severe matting, Karen will safely and gently shave underneath the mats using specialized feline clippers.

The Solution: Depending on the severity and location of the mats, this might mean a localized shave (like a belly or sanitary shave) or a full Lion Cut.

The Benefit: Shaving instantly relieves the painful pulling on their skin and gives them a fresh, comfortable start so their coat can grow back healthy and knot-free!

If you know your cat has matting, please let us know when booking so we can plan the best and safest approach for their grooming session.

How might my cat behave after being groomed?

Most cats feel absolutely wonderful after a groom! Once the heavy undercoat, dirt, and any painful mats are removed, many cats will immediately start showing off their fresh, clean coat and often seem much more energetic and affectionate.
Occasionally, a cat who has had a significant haircut—like a Lion Cut or a heavy shave—may act a little differently or seem a bit shy for a day or two. This is completely normal! Suddenly losing a thick coat changes how the air and blankets feel on their skin, and it can take them a moment to get used to the new sensation.
The best thing you can do is offer them a cozy, warm spot to rest and give them plenty of positive reinforcement. They will be back to their usual, happy selves very quickly!
